Leylan Avalos, MSW

Prior to her joining the Healing Care Hospice team, Leylan worked as a Foster Care Social Worker for Futuro Infantil for a year and a half. Preceding her time at Futuro Infantil, she was the Assistant Director of a specialized day-program for adults with developmental disabilities for nine years.

Leylan is passionate about being an asset to her community. She delights in being able to grow spiritually by volunteering at RTLA Church in South Central Los Angeles as part of the administration team for the Connect Group. She helps facilitate various group gatherings in the community that range from interest, life, and religion. Leylan also enjoys hiking and traveling. Her last vacation landed her in Ireland and she is currently planning her next trip to Iceland, which will be her second visit to the beautiful country. Leylan often relishes in literature and loves being consumed by a good book at home as well as immersed in and surrounded by fellow bibliophiles at book festivals.

Leylan received her Master of Social Work from the University of Southern California in 2017, her focus being Adults and Healthy Aging. She also holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in English Literature, with a minor in Gender and Women’s Studies, from Connecticut College.
